I have worked with acrylics, watercolors, crayons and oil. I used oil the most until 1989 when I discovered "pastel".
I feel a strong attraction to pastel because of its multiple applications, because it is scarce in art galleries, and because of the difficulty rectifying mistakes that are easily corrected in oil.
I am attracted to pastel, and to the subjects and themes I use,in an almost stubborn way because of the results I obtain.
I devoted myselft to show my art convinced that i found what i was loking for.I was encouraged to continue when I discovered the vast majority of visitors to my exhibits had no knowledge of "pastel". I felt this way a pity, for I am in love with this medium.
Pastel is a medium that demands the most contact with all the other materials involved. As a trained ceramic artist,I feel the same hand-materials connection with pastel that I felt when my hands molded clay working in ceramics.
The durability of pastel with the passing of time is greater than that of any other art medium.Even after two or three hundred years it continues to maintain its appearance. We can´t say the same for our own lives. The long life of pastel is a curiosity that one should take into account. We shouldn´t understimate this medium just because it is so infrequently used.
"Pastel" begins to be considered as capable means of offering all the resources of the "great painting" toward the year 1.720
